Baylor College of Medicine in TSF Top 20 Honor Roll
May 29, 2019
The Thoracic Surgery Foundation (TSF), the charitable arm of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), highlights institutions that have received the most grant funding since 1993. Baylor College of Medicine was 13th in the nation, following Brigham and Women’s Hospital at 12.
This accomplishment is indicative of the strength of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery cardiothoracic program, including its research initiatives, leadership and staff. The fact Baylor surgeons have been consistently and repeatedly selected for funding through the years is a highly commendable mark of achievement. A special congratulations goes to Dr. Bryan Burt, associate professor and interim chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Joseph Coselli, professor and chief of the Division Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Dr. Todd K. Rosengart, professor and DeBakey-Bard Chair of Surgery, for their specific contributions towards this success.
The mission of the TSF is to foster the development of surgeon scientists in cardiothoracic surgery, increasing knowledge and innovation to benefit patient care. It is a unique organization representing thoracic surgery across the United States with research and educational initiatives supporting the broad spectrum of thoracic surgery.
