Section Highlights
- The Section of Epidemiology and Population Sciences advances high-quality research to understand how diseases emerge, who is most at risk, and how evidence can improve the health of individuals and communities.
- Faculty bring together expertise in genetics, cancer epidemiology, nutrition, quantitative biology, health psychology, and related disciplines to address complex public health challenges and inform clinical practice and policy.
- The section continues to expand its research impact through major federally funded initiatives, including multi-million-dollar NIH, NCI, and CPRIT-supported studies focused on cancer prevention, progression, genetics, and population health.
- A strong culture of collaboration and academic excellence is reflected in faculty leadership appointments, promotions, nationally recognized awards, and invitations to present at leading scientific conferences around the world.
- Through its Grand Rounds series, educational outreach, and mentorship of students and trainees, the section fosters interdisciplinary collaboration while preparing the next generation of epidemiology and population sciences researchers.
- Guided by a commitment to rigorous science, innovation, and community engagement, the section translates research discoveries into meaningful advances that improve public health outcomes.
