About the Department of Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology and the Cullen Eye Institute are dedicated to being one of the nation's preeminent facilities when it comes to education, research, clinical care, and public service. We provide educational programs for ophthalmology residents and fellows, medical and graduate students, research scientists, and practicing ophthalmologists; support research in the structure, function and diseases of the eye and the visual system; offer the highest quality eye care available; and sponsor public programs for prevention of eye disease and injury.
