- U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools 2017-2018
Baylor College of Medicine programs are consistently ranked among the top in the nation: School of Medicine – 21st in nation for research, 8th for primary care and 9th for pediatrics. Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences – 25th in nation for biological sciences, first among free-standing medical schools with associated graduate programs. The Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia Program is 2nd in the nation and first in Texas. Physician Assistant Program – 13th in the nation and first in Texas.
- Research Expenditure
The National Science Foundation Higher Education Research and Development Survey released in Nov. 2016 recorded Baylor College of Medicine had over $520 million in research expenditures in fiscal year 2015, ranking 39th in the nation and fourth in Texas. The College is the highest ranked free-standing biomedical institution in the nation.
- Baylor Rises in Ranks of Healthiest Workplaces
This is the second year in a row Baylor has earned the honor, rising to No. 5 on the nationwide list.
- Reuters 2016 List of the World’s Most Innovative Universities
Baylor College of Medicine made the Reuters Top 100 list of most innovative universities in the world. At No. 67 on the list, Baylor is noted for having executed 53 new licensing transactions, and for the fourth year in a row filed more than 50 new patent applications.
- High Performer Recognition
The Association of Healthcare Philanthropy has named Baylor as one of the top performing organizations in the United States. This recognition came in the 2015 AHP Report on Giving, which identified high performers as the top 25 percent of all reporting organizations.
- Baylor Designated Mother-Friendly Worksite

- Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratory named a ‘Deal of the Year’
Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratory, a joint venture between Baylor and Japan-based Miraca Holdings Inc., was named the winner in the healthcare category of Houston Business Journal’s Deals of the Year awards. BMGL specializes in the development and commercialization of high-quality genetic and genomic testing.
- QS World University Rankings 2015
Each year since 2004, the QS World University Rankings compares over 800 universities around the globe based on six performance indicators. Baylor ranks 35th for medicine, making it the number one free standing health sciences university in the rankings. Baylor also ranks 51st in the life science and medicine ranking by faculty.
- Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Named to Becker’s Hospital Review List of 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Neurosurgery and Spine Programs
From the groundbreaking research being performed by Baylor College of Medicine — the number one NIH-funded research facility in Texas— to ongoing advancements in treatment of neurological disorders happening at CHI St. Luke’s Health, the Baylor Neuroscience Institute at Baylor St. Luke’s has received recognition for technology in the prevention and treatment of neurovascular diseases.

- Thomas Reuters 2015: World’s Most Innovative Universities
Baylor College of Medicine made the Reuters Top 100 list of most innovative universities in the world. At No. 47 on the list, Baylor is noted for having executed 59 new technology licensing and options transactions in fiscal year 2014 and managing about 700 active technology licenses.
- Comprehensive Designation
Baylor’s Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center receives highest National Cancer Institute designation – Comprehensive status.
- Charity Navigator’s Top Rating
Baylor’s sound financial management and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it Charity Navigator’s top rating – four stars. This is the first time that the College has received the prestigious evaluation from the nation’s largest independent charity rater. Baylor is one of about 5,500 mid-to-large sized nonprofits that Charity Navigator reviews each year for evidence of fiduciary and governance responsibility, ethical practices and openness with donors. Its four-star rating places it in a select group of high-performing charities.
- National Taiwan University Ranking: 2015 Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities
This ranking analyzes the performance of scientific papers of the world’s top 500 universities. Baylor is ranked 94th in the overall ranking and 43rd in the subject rankings for clinical medicine and life sciences.
- Houston Chronicle Top Workplaces
In November 2015, the Houston Chronicle's annual Top Workplaces report named Baylor as one of the top businesses in the Large Companies category. The rankings are based on a survey of employees. The survey included questions on opportunity for advancement, the value of pay and benefits, leadership and environment. The College is listed as No. 27 in the Large Companies listing.

Baylor is the only stand alone life sciences college ranked among the top 50 colleges and universities for research and development expenditures by BestColleges.com.
