- U.S. News & World Report Rankings
Baylor St. Luke’s has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2019-2020 according to U.S. News & World Report, including second in Houston and third in Texas. The hospital ranked nationally in four adult specialties and rated high performing in six adult specialties and six procedures and conditions. The Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor St. Luke’s was ranked among the top 50 cancer centers in the country and received accreditations for excellence in patient services, staffing, and technology.
- 2019 Houston's Healthiest Employer Award
The Houston Business Journal has ranked Baylor College of Medicine as one of the top three "Healthiest Employers" among companies with 5,000 or more employees. Others on that list include BP Corporation North America; Chevron Corporation; Hewlett-Packard Company.
- Research and Innovation
The College ranks among the top 30 academic biomedical research institutions in the world in the 2019 Nature Index. In the Reuters listing of the World's Most Innovative Universities, BCM ranks in the top 50.
- Institutional Honor Roll
Baylor College of Medicine was named to the Top 20 Institutional Honor Roll by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation. This accomplishment signals the strength of the College's cardiothoracic program, institution leadership and faculty and staff.
- 2019-2020 U.S. News & World Report
The 2019-2020 U.S. News & World Report annual list of top graduate schools place Baylor College of Medicine in the top 15 percent of all U.S. medical schools. In the research intensive category, Baylor remains among the top 25 medical schools of the 152 medicals in the nation at 22nd, and in the primary care category, Baylor rose to 4th.
- WELCOA Silver Well Workplace Award
Baylor College of Medicine has been recognized by the Wellness Council of America as one of the nation's healthiest companies in 2018. The Silver Well Workplace award demonstrates supportive efforts to modify health risks and improve overall health and well-being in the workplace.
- Reuters Top 100: The World’s Most Innovative Universities 2018
Baylor College of Medicine ranked among the top 100 most innovative universities in the world by Reuters for the fourth year in a row. At number 43, the College is the highest ranked free-standing health sciences university and one of only two institutions in Texas to make the list. This ranking is based on numerous indicators including patent filings and research paper citations.
- Baylor named least expensive private medical school
Baylor College of Medicine was ranked No. 1 on the U.S. News and World Report list of least expensive private medical schools, based on data submitted by 52 ranked medical schools as part of the publication's annual survey. Baylor was the only school on the top 10 list for cost that also was a Top 20-ranked medical school for research (No. 16) and primary care (No. 5) by U.S. News and World Report.

Baylor College of Medicine has been ranked 94 in the world and 51 in the nation on the Center for World University rankings list for 2018-2019.
- Baylor makes leap in U.S. News & World Report rankings
Baylor College of Medicine secured its position as the No. 1 medical school in Texas, the Southwest and one of the top schools in the nation in the latest U.S. News & World Report medical school rankings.
- 2018 Houston's Healthiest Employer Award
Baylor earned recognition as one of the top three extra-large companies in the city in Houston Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers. Baylor was recognized for excellence in categories including culture and leadership management, programming and interventions, strategic planning, reporting and analytics, and communications and marketing. - Best Global Universities
Baylor College of Medicine earned a spot on the U.S. News & World Report 2018 Best Global Universities list, ranking No. 55 in the U.S. and No. 126 globally. Of note, the College is No. 24 in molecular biology and genetics, No. 46 in clinical medicine and No. 48. in neuroscience and behavior.
- Baylor’s Research Cited in Nature’s 2017 Innovation Index
Two hundred leading global research institutions were ranked for their influence on industry and innovation using a new methodology that relies on knowledge of scholarly work cited in patent literature and the value of the patents as perceived by the applicants. Baylor was listed 12th.
- Better Business Bureau Education Foundation
The Faculty Group Practice at Baylor College of Medicine received the Winner of Distinction Award from the Better Business Bureau Education Foundation at the 2017 BBB Awards for Excellence luncheon. The award recognizes organizations that maintain a superior commitment to ethics, overall excellence and quality in the workplace.
- Baylor Academy at Ryan wins prestigious award
After being named one of the top magnet schools in the country earlier this spring, Baylor College of Medicine Academy at Ryan went on to receive the Magnet Schools of America President's Award, one of the organization's top national awards. The award was presented during a ceremony at Magnet Schools of America's 35th National Conference in Los Angeles. The school prepares diverse students for rigorous high school programs, college and careers through an innovative, accelerated health science program.
- U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools 2017-2018
Baylor College of Medicine programs are consistently ranked among the top in the nation: School of Medicine – 21st in nation for research, 8th for primary care and 9th for pediatrics. Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences – 25th in nation for biological sciences, first among free-standing medical schools with associated graduate programs. The Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia Program is 2nd in the nation and first in Texas. Physician Assistant Program – 13th in the nation and first in Texas.
- Baylor recognized by AHA for employee health programs
Baylor College of Medicine earned the Gold Workplace Health Achievement recognition from the American Heart Association. Companies recognized with this designation meet AHA criteria for their achievement to implement quality employee health programs in a workplace environment characteristic of culture-of-health best practices. - Reuters Top 100: The World's Most Innovative Universities
Baylor College of Medicine was named one of Reuters' most innovative colleges in the world. At number 44, Baylor College of Medicine was praised for its biotech and pharmaceutical patents.
- College earns wellness award
Baylor was selected as one of the winners of the inaugural Bill Baun Excellence in Wellness Award from the Houston Business Coalition on Health, earning an exemplary honor among organizations with more than 5,000 employees. Members of the BCM BeWell team accepted the award at the HBCH Wellness Awards presentation Dec. 5, 2017 at the United Way of Greater Houston.
- Research Expenditure
The National Science Foundation Higher Education Research and Development Survey released in Nov. 2016 recorded Baylor College of Medicine had over $520 million in research expenditures in fiscal year 2015, ranking 39th in the nation and fourth in Texas. The College is the highest ranked free-standing biomedical institution in the nation.
- Baylor Rises in Ranks of Healthiest Workplaces
This is the second year in a row Baylor has earned the honor, rising to No. 5 on the nationwide list.
- Reuters 2016 List of the World’s Most Innovative Universities
Baylor College of Medicine made the Reuters Top 100 list of most innovative universities in the world. At No. 67 on the list, Baylor is noted for having executed 53 new licensing transactions, and for the fourth year in a row filed more than 50 new patent applications.
- High Performer Recognition
The Association of Healthcare Philanthropy has named Baylor as one of the top performing organizations in the United States. This recognition came in the 2015 AHP Report on Giving, which identified high performers as the top 25 percent of all reporting organizations.
- Baylor Designated Mother-Friendly Worksite

- Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratory named a ‘Deal of the Year’
Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratory, a joint venture between Baylor and Japan-based Miraca Holdings Inc., was named the winner in the healthcare category of Houston Business Journal’s Deals of the Year awards. BMGL specializes in the development and commercialization of high-quality genetic and genomic testing.
- Houston CPA Society Diversity and Inclusiveness Award
Baylor College of Medicine was selected for the Houston CPA Society’s Excellence in Diversity and Inclusiveness Award for Industry for outstanding and continuous contributions to promoting diversity and inclusiveness within the accounting profession.
