10th Annual Cardiovascular Research Institute Symposium

The Cardiovascular Research Institute of Baylor College of Medicine will host the 10th Annual Cardiovascular Research Institute Symposium.
Date: April 5, 2023, from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Location: Cullen Auditorium
The Symposium will feature two distinguished keynote lecturers at the symposium. Jeffery Molkentin, Ph.D., director of the Division of Molecular Cardiovascular Biology; executive co-director of the Heart Institute and professor of pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center will speak on “Adult stem cells do not regenerate the damaged heart; they mildly rejuvenate it thru inflammation”.

The event will also feature Dianna Milewicz, M.D., Ph.D.; professor and George H.W. Bush Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine; director of the Division of Medical Genetics and vice-chair of internal medicine at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center who will speak on “Molecular mechanisms for the vascular disease pleiotropy associated with pathogenic variants in smooth muscle α-actin (ACTA2)”. In addition, this year’s symposium will have three sessions that spotlight cardiovascular research being done in the Texas Medical Center, and two poster sessions with over 70 abstracts.
CME Credits
The CVRI will offer CME credits for participation in this year’s symposium. BCM designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ commensurate with the extent of each physician’s participation in the day’s events. CME credit is only available to faculty members who are physicians. Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
