Clinicians from the UDC evaluate patients and serve at facilities across the Texas Medical Center, including Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Baylor Clinic, BCM McNair Campus, Harris Health, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
Baylor Genetics, a clinical laboratory that was founded more than 40 years ago, is now operated as a joint venture between BCM and Miraca Holdings, Inc. BG has a wide breadth of test offerings, both genetic and biochemical that are supported by the depth of knowledge of the BCM faculty members who help operate the lab and interpret the test results. The UDC partners with BG to utilize the newest genetic and biochemical testing technologies in the search for answers for undiagnosed patients.
BCM’s Human Genome Sequencing Center has grown its expertise in genomic sequencing and analysis since its beginnings as part of the Human Genome Project almost 25 years ago. The UDC partners with the HGSC to use the newest technologies and bioinformatics tools to facilitate diagnosis and disease discovery for undiagnosed patients.
