Welcome to the Baylor College of Medicine Medicine–Pediatrics (Baylor Med-Peds) Residency program! As the 2026-2027 chief residents, we are excited to welcome you to explore our program and give you a glimpse into what makes Baylor Med-Peds such a wonderful place to train. We hope you continue to explore our website to learn more about our training, our patients, and (most importantly) the people who make this program what it is!
One of the things we value the most about Baylor Med-Peds is that there is no single “right” way to be a Med-Peds physician. Our residents bring a wide range of experiences, skills, interests, and career goals, from all over the country. We are encouraged throughout our training to pursue our individual passions through clinical research, advocacy groups, subspecialty electives, teaching opportunities, and international rotations. We benefit from the mentorship of Med-Peds and categorical faculty across Baylor, who actively support our new ideas for research, interest groups, and resident activities. We have a strong Med-Peds presence throughout Baylor, and benefit from the opportunity to train in a remarkably diverse health system, including Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital and the Harris Health system, the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center, Baylor St. Luke’s, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our graduates go on to excel in a variety of career paths, including primary care, combined hospital medicine, global health, transitional medicine and subspecialty care.
A defining part of our program is our combined continuity clinic, at the Harris Health Martin Luther King Jr Health Center, where we care for medically underserved patients of all ages. Year after year our residents rank our clinic experience as the greatest strength of our program. Our dedicated medicine-pediatrics faculty, nursing, and support staff make our jobs enjoyable and fun, allowing us to function as primary care physicians for our patients. From intern year, residents build their own panel of patients, and continue caring for them throughout all four years of residency, giving us the opportunity to develop profound longitudinal relationships. The experience is further enriched by protected time for weekly clinic didactics and educational workshops. It is truly one of the places where our Med-Peds identity is the most tangible: we get to care for patients across their lifetime, while getting to know them, their families, and their community!
Just as important as our clinical training is the community we continue to build with one another. We are a close-knit group, with access to larger groups on both sides. We show up for each through the busy, challenging, and exciting parts of residency. We spend plenty of time together outside the hospital as well, usually trying new restaurants, exploring the latest Houston has to offer, from going to concerts, games, to going dancing, for happy hour, hosting game nights, or simply getting together to celebrate birthdays, engagements/weddings, and all kinds of life milestones together, with co-residents who have become close friends. We are so proud of the supportive, fun, and genuinely kind community we continue to build here.
