March 29, 2022 - Dr. Melanie Samuel received the Women of Excellence Award for her commitment to leadership in addressing diversity, equity and inclusion above and beyond her scope of responsibilities and for her extraordinary contributions and accomplishments, within one or more of Baylor’s mission areas, that address issues that affect women at Baylor College of Medicine, or in the larger community. The Women of Excellence Awards was established in 2018 to celebrate individuals who exemplify Baylor values and demonstrate exceptional dedication to issues that affect women at Baylor College of Medicine, or in the larger community.

April 5, 2021 - Dr. Fred A. Pereira, associate professor of molecular and cellular biology and otolaryngology and a member of the Huffington Center on Aging, was elected president of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program directors' group, representing all post-baccalaureate programs in the Division of Training, Workforce Development and Diversity. He was invited to be a member of the Program Directors' Executive Committee, which advises the director on training programs' needs and issues.

May 28, 2020: Dr. Dennis T. Villareal, professor of medicine in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Baylor College of Medicine, is a 2020 DeBakey Research Award recipient.
