The Center for Space Medicine’s (CSM) Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH) offers multiple funding mechanisms with variable solicitation methods, funding amounts, durations and review cycles.
Now Recruiting: TRISH Chief Scientific Officer
CSM is seeking an accomplished and experienced scientist and leader to serve as the Chief Scientist of TRISH. This role is a senior leadership appointment within CSM and will advance the Center’s mission as a world leader in space biomedical research, education, and translation.
The ideal candidate will have operational experience with addressing human health and performance challenges in limited resources environments such as space, military or extreme environments such as expeditionary treks, and global settings.

Joint SMA–SSA Lee–Jones Space Physician and Surgeon Award
An annual $1,000 award for a surgical resident with a strong project proposal advancing space medicine or space surgery through collaboration between the Space Medicine Association (SMA) and Space Surgery Association (SSA). This opportunity is supported by CSM faculty member Dr. Jeffrey Jones.
Award includes:
- $1,000 stipend
- One‑year membership in AsMA, SMA, SSA, and AMSRO
- Travel support to attend the AsMA Annual Scientific Meeting

The award is intended to encourage surgical trainees to pursue careers in space medicine and space surgery, strengthen collaboration between SMA and SSA, support meaningful joint projects, and recognize future leaders in the field.
