TRISH Consortium
By design, TRISH is a consortium of one of the nation’s leading medical colleges, Baylor College of Medicine, and two of the nation’s premier technology institutions, Caltech and MIT. Leaders from the consortium institutions serve on the Board of Directors and are represented by Institute Lead Scientists. These institutions lead scientific workshops for the space health community and TRISH supports research activities through seed grant programs. The Institute also works closely with NASA’s Human Research Program.

Consortium partner Caltech is represented by Barbara Wold, Ph.D. on the TRISH Board of Directors, and by Lead Scientist Steve Mayo, Ph.D.
Activities:
Caltech Seed Grant Program: This seed grant program encourages researchers at Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to propose extremely innovative, high-risk and high-reward projects, giving TRISH access to very early, outside-the-box projects.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Consortium partner MIT is represented by Thomas Heldt, Ph.D. on the TRISH Board of Directors, and by Lead Scientist Lonnie Petersen, M.D., Ph.D.
Activities:
MIT Seed Grant Program: Focused on concrete, applied research and prototype development, this program aims to provide a pipeline of technologies, tools, and human experiences that support deep space exploration.
NASA Human Research Program
As the Institute works to identify cutting-edge science and technology opportunities and invest in research to meet NASA Human Research Program (HRP)’s needs, working in close collaboration is a requirement. In addition to regular Institute operations, TRISH and HRP work together on the annual HRP Investigators’ Workshop.
