Todd K. Rosengart, M.D., professor and DeBakey-Bard Chair of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery at the 2019 Annual Meeting, May 4-7 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The AATS is an international association founded over 100 years ago, which promotes scholarship, innovation, and leadership in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. Its leadership and mentors have a “proven record of distinction within the specialty and have made significant contributions to the care and treatment of cardiothoracic disease throughout the world.”

Dr. Rosengart is a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-supported scientist with uninterrupted extramural funding since 1998. An extensively published investigator, he is also editor of Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and chair of the NIH Bioengineering, Technology, and Surgical Sciences (BTSS) study section. As a physician-entrepreneur, he is co-founder of Vitals.com, a physician search and medical consumerism website, and co-founder of XyloCor Therapeutics, a gene therapy company holding an open IND with FDA “Fast Track” designation of its clinical trial for patients with end stage coronary artery disease. Dr. Rosengart holds 12 patents, including those for a method of inducing angiogenesis.
