Dr. Shawn Groth Elected to Editorial Board of JTCVS

Shawn Groth, M.D., associate professor of surgery in the Division of General Thoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and director of Esophageal Surgical Services for Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, was appointed to the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (JTCVS) Editorial Board. He joins his colleague Dr. Bryan Burt, associate professor and interim chief of Thoracic Surgery and director of Thoracic Surgery Research at Baylor College of Medicine, who is also on the board.
As stated on their website, the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery presents original, peer-reviewed articles on diseases of the heart, great vessels, lungs and thorax with emphasis on surgical interventions. An official publication of The American Association for Thoracic Surgery and The Western Thoracic Surgical Association, the Journal focuses on techniques and developments in acquired cardiac surgery, congenital cardiac repair, thoracic procedures, heart and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and other procedures.
Dr. Groth specializes in the management of benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus/foregut, lung, pleural space, mediastinum, chest wall, and diaphragm. As the director of Esophageal Surgical Services, Dr. Groth co-directs the Center for Dysphagia and Swallowing Disorders, which provides a multi-disciplinary approach to managing patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and esophageal motility disorders. He provides minimally invasive approaches to managing benign and malignant foregut disorders, as well as Barrett’s esophagus.
