Dr. Ravi Ghanta Earns PEAR Award

Dr. Ravi K. Ghanta, associate professor of surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, has received a Professional Educator Appreciation and Recognition Award from Baylor College of Medicine students. PEAR awards were founded by Baylor students to recognize their instructors and faculty for excellence in teaching, mentorship, and/or for outstanding general assistance and inspiration.
Dr. Ghanta serves as chief of Cardiac Surgery at Ben Taub Hospital. His clinical practice includes all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including caring for patients with coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, diseases of the thoracic aorta, and heart failure. Dr. Ghanta also has interests in minimally invasive surgery, transcatheter valve therapy, mechanical circulatory assist devices, and heart transplantation.
As a student, I appreciated his leadership style in which he warmly and consistently encouraged students and created a safe and productive learning environment.
