Baylor College of Medicine honors faculty for excellence in patient care

Baylor College of Medicine recognized physicians for their excellence in patient care at its annual Faculty Awards Day, held yesterday at Baylor’s Cullen Building.

“Today we come together to recognize the contributions of our faculty in clinical care and all our missions areas. We are grateful to your contributions to our institution and to our community,” said Dr. Biykem Bozkurt, senior dean of faculty and professor of medicine – cardiology.

Dr. Sandesh Nagamani is awarded the the Ben and Margaret Love Foundation Bobby Alford Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism.

The awards include the Ben and Margaret Love Foundation Bobby Alford Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism, presented to Dr. Sandesh Nagamani, professor of molecular and human genetics, a nationally recognized clinician-educator and physician-scientist in clinical genetics, providing patient centered care and leadership in the management of rare and complex genetic disorders.

 

Other clinical awards include the Early Career Award for Excellence in Patient Care for faculty with two to five years of experience, the Star Award for Excellence in Patient Care for faculty with at least six years of service and the Master Clinician Award for Excellence in Patient Care for faculty with at least 15 years of experience. These were established by Dr. Paul Klotman, Baylor College of Medicine president, CEO and executive dean, to recognize faculty for their exemplary qualities of clinical excellence and expertise, consistent high level of patient care, professionalism, commendable leadership skills and service to the community. These honorees provide care at Baylor Medicine and across the College’s affiliates.

Master Clinician honorees are Dr. Robert Atmar, professor of medicine; Dr. Yochai Birnbaum, professor of medicine; Dr. Shweta Dhar, professor of molecular and human genetics; Dr. Joseph Garcia-Prats, professor of pediatrics; Dr. Christina King, professor of medicine; Dr. Aderonke Ojo, professor of pediatrics; Dr. Krista Olson, associate professor of otolaryngology; Dr. Daniel Penny, professor of pediatrics; Dr. Nalini Ram, professor of medicine; Dr. Scott Rosenfeld, professor of orthopedic surgery; Dr. Rosa Michelle Schmidt, associate professor of medicine; Dr. Victor Seghers, professor of radiology; Dr. Asim Shah, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences; and Dr. Adriana Strutt, professor of neurology.
