About The Lab
With patient care and outcomes as our focus, our lab studies challenges in clinical spine surgery and develops technology-driven solutions. Our efforts are cross-collaborative, utilizing expertise and resources across various domains including spine surgery, mechanical engineering, software engineering, imaging physics and biostatistics. This allows us to tackle these clinical problems with the appropriate solution, whether it be traditional medical devices and hardware, or AI-powered software.

- Co-PI Dr. Alex Flores won 2nd place in the Inaugural BCM Ventures Shark Tank for his pitch on PATHFrax, a technology which can predict future pathologic fractures in metastatic spine patients.
- Co-PI Dr. Alex Flores received the Best Resident Research Award for his presentation on predicting metastatic vertebral compression fractures at the 2024 Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons meeting held in Frisco in early February.
