Welcome to the final module of LUNA!
Congratulations! We hope you feel very proud of yourself for making it to the end of your LUNA journey. This week, we will look back on all you have worked on since the beginning of the program. We will also go over how you will continue to manage your anxiety in the future.
Reviewing Your Progress
As you reach the end of LUNA, it’s important for you to take time to reflect and recognize all the wonderful things you have accomplished. But first, let’s check in with Sophia and George to see what they have accomplished.
Congratulations! You are now on your last week of LUNA! You should take a moment to pat yourself on the back. You’ve spent the past several weeks working on some of your greatest fears and worries, and that takes a lot of effort. Let’s take a moment to reflect on what Sophia and George have worked on during their time in LUNA.
During the program, Sophia worked on managing her anxiety about public speaking and social situations. After wrapping up her plan of action, she successfully completed her class presentation. She also does not feel as anxious when she’s around other people at school.
However, Sophia knows there are going to be times when she will have to keep challenging her fears. For example, Sophia will be moving to a new school in a few months. She’s feeling anxious about meeting her new classmates, adjusting to the environment, and managing her new schedule. By using the lessons and skills she has learned in LUNA, Sophia knows exactly how to create a new plan of action to help her challenge any anxieties that come up for her in the future.
George spent his time in LUNA working on his fear of germs. After much practice, he is now able to use the busy public restroom at school. He also worries a lot less about any germs that could be on the things he touches.
However, George will still have to face his fears and worries at times. George recently got invited to go camping with his friends this summer. They plan on sleeping in tents and there will be no showers or sinks for George to use. Since George will be sleeping in a tent that could get muddy and dirty, and since he will not have access to a sink to wash off in, George feels pretty anxious. But just like Sophia, George knows exactly what to do to prepare himself using the lessons and skills he has learned in LUNA.
Think back on all you’ve accomplished during your time in LUNA. You have completed many different activities and have gained many new tools and skills you can use whenever you feel anxious or worried. We hope you feel very proud of yourself.
Just like Sophia and George, you will still feel anxious sometimes, and that’s okay! It could be about something new or about one of the fears you worked on during LUNA. Remember, anxiety is an emotion everyone feels at times.
But no matter what, remember to have confidence in your ability to handle whatever fears or worries come your way. We hope you recognize all that you have accomplished, and we know you will accomplish even more in the future!
Take a moment to think back on how things were when you first started LUNA. Then, answer the questions on the Final Reflecting On My Progress worksheet, or view the questions in the drop-down below. Pay attention to how far you have come and focus on the progress you have made since you started. Even one tiny step forward or one positive change means that you have made progress in LUNA!
You may have completed a similar reflection worksheet in supplemental module 11 if you decided to read it. It’s okay if your answers have changed since then, and it’s okay if they are the same! The important thing is that you are thinking about the improvements you have made since starting LUNA. Each time you reflect on your progress, you have a chance to celebrate your hard work and learn something new.
Think back on how things were when you started LUNA and how things are now using the questions below. It may also be helpful to talk to your parents so they can help you reflect on your progress.
- Look back at the Fears and Worries Checklist you created in Module 1. What fears/worries did you list? How do you feel about those fears/worries now?
- Look back on your goals. Have you made progress on your goals or achieved them? How have these achievements made things better for you?
- Write about something you accomplished during LUNA that you are really proud of.
- What are you able to do now that you weren’t able to do at the beginning of the program?
- What skills have you learned that you can use to manage your anxiety? Have they helped you?
While it is important to think about how far you have come, it is also important to think about where you would like to go in the future and what else you would like to accomplish.
