The section is home to the NIH-funded Digestive Disease Center and has secured more than $50 million in research funding.

The section delivers over 400,000 patient encounters each year across nine sites and leads major efforts in education, quality improvement, and population health.

The section continues to lead in geriatrics and palliative care with expansive clinical services, national recognition, and one of the nation’s largest fellowship programs.

The section houses IQuESt, a nationally recognized center advancing innovations in healthcare delivery with more than 90 faculty and $10.5 million in active research funding.

The section drives discovery in blood and cancer disorders through innovative research and early-phase clinical trials.

The section delivers high-impact care for autoimmune and allergic diseases, achieving a patient satisfaction score of 95 - ranking in the 88th percentile nationally.

Alongside the T32 Infection and Immunity research training slots, the section launched a Systems-Based Practice track and added a global health elective in Peru, reinforcing its dedication to innovation in fellowship education.

The section combines internationally recognized research with clinical innovation, highlighted by renewed VA and NIH grants, two Phase 2 trial publications, and a Master’s-level research track for faculty through BCM’s Clinical Scientist Training Program.

Clinical services span five pavilions across the Texas Medical Center, including a nationally ranked ICU at Baylor St. Luke’s and newly launched interventional pulmonary programs at Baylor Medicine and Ben Taub.

The section leads in providing comprehensive care for adolescents and adults with IDD, supported by expanding clinical services, training programs, and nearly $800,000 in external research funding.
