The Section of Immunology, Allergy and Rheumatology is committed to training the next generation of physicians and scientists at Baylor College of Medicine.
Clinical training programs are designed for medical students, residents and clinical fellows. The section has two independent, ACGME-certified clinical fellowship training programs in Rheumatology and Allergy and Clinical Immunology. We offer multiple opportunities for medical students and residents to learn about the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune, inflammatory, rheumatic and allergic diseases, with opportunities to experience inpatient, outpatient, and consultant services at Ben Taub Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine McNair Campus, Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Texas Children's Hospital-Pavilion for Women.
Research training programs focus on mentored research opportunities for graduate students and post-doctoral research fellows as well as clinical trainees who seek new experiences at the leading edge of biomedical research. Our laboratories and research programs are outstanding opportunities for research trainees to gain experience in research in basic and translational immunology, including but not limited to research on asthma, allergic rhinitis, scleroderma and autoimmune fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and osteoarthritis. The section provides all trainees with personalized mentoring and career direction.
