There is now a fully functional PCN-allergy delabeling process in place at the McNair Allergy Clinic that is successfully delabeling PCN-allergic patients in EPIC. While 10 percent of the population have been labeled allergic to penicillin, there is actually less than 1 percent of the population who are truly allergic upon testing. By promoting the use of penicillins, the broad-based long-term benefits of PCN delabeling include its ability to reduce the incidence of VRE, MSRA, c diff and other infections. The Clinic looks forward to providing this delabeling service to all patients who are referred to them.
