What is the average GPA and MCAT score for a matriculated student at Baylor?
The entering class of 2018 had an average GPA of 3.9 and a MCAT score of 518.

Do you accept AP credits?
If they appear on your U.S.- accredited undergraduate transcript, then Baylor College of Medicine accepts them. We highly recommend that you take additional upper-level courses in the areas in which you were given credit for introductory level courses. We do not accept AP credits for the required courses.
Do you accept online coursework?
If they appear on your U.S.- accredited undergraduate transcript, then Baylor College of Medicine accepts them. The College now accepts online credits for the required courses; this change occurred Admissions Cycle 2019.
What is the oldest MCAT score you accept for the 2019 entering class?
Acceptable dates of MCAT: September 2015 - September 2018.
If I take the MCAT exam multiple times, which test scores will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee?
Baylor College of Medicine will accept/review the most recent test scores.
Do you still accept the old MCAT exam scores?
Baylor College of Medicine will accept the old MCAT exam scores that are three years old or less.
I would like to speak to a Baylor College of Medicine academic advisor/counselor.
This is not a service that Baylor College of Medicine provides to applicants. Please speak to your current institution’s pre-med or pre-health advising office for their feedback on your application. If you do not have an advisor, please visit NAAHP. They will be able to assist you regarding your AMCAS application, undergrad credits, prerequisite requirements, etc.
I applied for medical school this year; however, I was never invited for an interview/accepted at Baylor College of Medicine. Can I please meet with one of the deans so they can advise me on what I need to do next year to be a stronger candidate?
Baylor College of Medicine received 7,618 applications and interviewed 839 applicants for 186 positions in the 2018 entering class. There are many variables that are used in our holistic assessment of each applicant. That being said, there rarely is a single reason we can point to as to why an individual applicant is not offered an interview or admitted. It is not our practice to have an admissions dean(s) meet with applicants.
Does one undergraduate degree or institution hold more “weight” with the admissions committee than another?
When and where do I send in my final official transcript(s) from my undergraduate institution(s)?
Please do not send your official transcript(s) to the Office of Admissions. If you are offered an acceptance to Baylor College of Medicine, we will provide instructions on when and where to send your final, official transcript(s).
I’m currently on the waitlist and would like to meet with a dean to update them on recent “events” that I’ve participated in over the past couple of months. Is this possible?
Unfortunately, the deans of admissions are not able to meet with every applicant who is currently on the waitlist. Therefore, they are unable to grant your wish to meet with them. You can send a letter of intent to email@example.com.
What is Baylor College of Medicine's waitlist process?
After April 30 (AAMC national reply date), if the class is not full due to withdrawals/declines, the Admissions Deans present the non‐ranked waitlist to the Admissions Committee and a vote is taken to activate the waitlist and to give formal authorization to the Admissions Deans and a faculty co‐chair to collectively select candidates from the waitlist to fill the class. Selection will be aligned with the institution’s diversity goals.
When can I access the Baylor supplemental application?
July 1 is when the supplemental application will be available.
When is the deadline to submit the supplemental application?
Dec. 1 is the deadline to submit your Baylor supplemental application for the regular M.D. program. For M.D./Ph.D. applicants, the deadline is Nov. 1. The $100 fee is non-refundable.
How can I pay the supplemental application fee?
Login to the portal and follow the instructions for making an electronic payment through First Data. Mailed checks and money orders will not be accepted.
Letters of Recommendation
How many Letters of Recommendation can I send?
Three individual letters or one premedical committee evaluation are required; Baylor College of Medicine will accept four individual letters at the most. We prefer quality in-depth letters from people who know you well, rather than giving preference to the number of letters received.
Baylor College of Medicine participates in the AMCAS Letter of Recommendation service. All letters must be processed through AMCAS. Please do not send letters of recommendation to our email account; they will not be considered in your application.
May I send more letters?
Additional letters may be sent; however, we cannot guarantee that the Admissions Committee will review more than four letters. Additional letters will not give you an advantage over the required three letters.
How do you determine Texas residency?
Please review the Texas residency rules and regulations pamphlet. Once matriculated to Baylor College of Medicine, if you have questions on how to change your residency, please contact (713) 798-3372. There is also good information regarding Texas residency on the Tuition Status webpage.
Does Baylor College of Medicine give preference to Texas residents?
The class is composed of 85 percent Texas residents and 15 percent out-of-state residents. The Admissions Committee uses the same criteria to evaluate applicants whether they are in-state or out-of-state residents.
May I send updates to my application?
Yes, if you have not received an invitation to interview at Baylor then you can send updates to firstname.lastname@example.org. If or when you receive an invitation to interview, updates to your application will not be accepted. Those who have interviewed may send "letters of intent", but not updates to their application.
BCM Merit Scholarships
Does BCM award merit scholarships?
All applicants accepted to BCM are considered for merit scholarship awards. There is no specific date for a decision to be made and an award can be made after the April 30 (AAMC National Reply Deadline). The selection criteria include: outstanding academic performance and achievement, a broad range of intellectual interests, demonstrated leadership, commitment to interests other than academic work, and unique life experiences that may contribute to a medical career. Merit award offers from other schools are not automatically matched.
Does Baylor College of Medicine accept transfer students from U.S. or non-U.S. medical schools?
We do not accept transfer students to Baylor College of Medicine.
Does Baylor College of Medicine accept transfer credit from U.S. or non-U.S. medical schools?
We do not accept transfer credit or offer advanced standing.
Does the School of Medicine accept International students?
The M.D. program does not accept International students (with the exception of Canadian students). The MSTP (M.D./Ph.D.) program does accept International students.
If a United States citizen completes their undergrad at a Canadian institution, do they meet the BCM requirements?
Yes, BCM considers Canadian degrees/college coursework to be equivalent to the U.S. undergraduate degrees/coursework.
Can a Canadian citizen apply to BCM's School of Medicine for the regular M.D. program?
Yes, Canadian citizens who complete their degree in Canada or the United States, and who meet the BCM requirements, are eligible to apply. However, when it comes to matriculation, they will be classified as an International student and therefore are required to pay tuition as an International student.
I have a SpanTran transcript; will Baylor College of Medicine accept the credits listed?
No. The School of Medicine requires 90 undergraduate credit hours from a fully accredited college or university in the United States. All transcripts should be sent to AMCAS, not to Baylor College of Medicine.

At this time, Baylor College of Medicine does not accept DACA students.

If an applicant is selected for an interview, a tour will be provided. Additional individual tours are not available.
