Education Technology received communications from ExamSoft about the upcoming release of new operating systems. They are requesting that all students hold off upgrading their current computers, or from purchasing new computers with the new operating systems pre-installed, until they have developed a compatible software.
Announcement
Microsoft and Apple have each announced the release of new operating systems, which will be available in the near future; the timing of each is listed below. ExamSoft has not yet certified compatibility for any of these new operating systems with Examplify.
We are aiming to have an Examplify release available to certify these new operating systems for use with Examplify near the time of their launch.
Exam-takers should not update until Ed-Tech announces Examplify support for the new operating systems.
This includes beta versions that may be available to exam-takers prior to their official release dates.
This information has already been communicated to your exam-takers to ensure they are able to continue testing without issue.
Microsoft Operating Systems
- Microsoft has not yet announced a release date for Windows 11 26H2, however, it is expected to be available sometime this Fall.
Apple Operating Systems
- Apple will release macOS Golden Gate (macOS 27) this fall
- Apple will release iPadOS 27 this fall
Ed-Tech will follow up with you in the coming weeks with additional updates. In the meantime, please reach out to Ed-Tech (ed-tech@bcm.edu) with any questions.

Minimum System Requirements (MSR) updates
ExamSoft's MSR are an important factor in maintaining a secure testing environment. In conjunction with Operating System updates by Apple and Microsoft, they plan to make the following MSR updates later this year:
Windows – upon release and certification of Windows 11 26H2
- End support for Windows 11 23H2
- Add support for Windows 11 26H2
macOS – upon release and certification of macOS 27 (Golden Gate)
- End support for macOS 14 (Sonoma)
- Add support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate)
iPad OS – upon release of iPadOS 27
- Add support for iPadOS 27
- iPadOS 18 will no longer be supported with the release of Examplify for iPad 5.6
Note: This change will impact some older models of iPads. Exam-takers are encouraged to review the MSR page for additional hardware impact.
The dates of these MSR changes depend on when Apple and Microsoft deploy new operating system versions and are subject to Examplify validation and certification post-release. Exam-takers should not update to the newest operating system versions until Examplify has certified compatibility to ensure testing without any issues.
