Emergency Medicine Education

The Henry J.N. Taub Department of Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine provides numerous opportunities for education from undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, advanced practice provider post graduate training and advanced specialty training in multiple concentrations within emergency medicine. 

The primary educational site is Ben Taub General Hospital, a high acuity, urban hospital that is one of the largest Level 1 Trauma Centers in Houston and is in the Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest medical center. Additional sites include Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and Texas Children’s Hospital. These clinical environments provide care for a diverse population leading to superb academic, clinical and advanced specialty training.  

Current medical students may apply as a visiting medical student rotator for electives through VSLO site. Applicants for residency should apply through ERAS. Applicants interested in an advanced specialty training program must have completed an emergency medicine residency program and be board certified/eligible in emergency medicine. Those interested in the advanced practice provider post-graduate training in emergency medicine, must have graduated from a recognized program.
