Frequently Asked Questions for Accepted Applicants

Do I have to attend orientation?
Yes. Attendance is MANDATORY. The information acquired at orientation is requisite for a successful start in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program/Physician Assistant Program.

How do I get to orientation the first morning?
We suggest that you park (if driving) in Garage #4 or #6. Baylor does not validate parking; your parking cost will be $13 (max) per day. If possible, you may want to be dropped off at Baylor or car pool should you know any of your classmates.

If you parked in Garage 4, enter Baylor through the Alkek building. If you parked in Garage 6, enter Baylor through the Smith/Taub building. You will be required to show a picture ID in order to obtain a visitor's pass. Once you receive the temporary ID, proceed to the room indicated in the Information Letter for the scheduled orientation.

How should I dress for the “at Baylor” part of Orientation?
Casual (but not too casual) dress is suggested. Photographs are taken for ID badges and the class composite, so you should look presentable. You will also meet various faculty and administrators at this time.

Do I have to bring anything for the “at Baylor” part of orientation?
No. We will provide all that you will need. We recommend that you bring a backpack/ tote bag for the materials you receive during Orientation as well as a pen for completing paperwork.

General

Can I get my e-mail account or access intranet resources prior to my enrollment at Baylor?
Every student will receive a username and password for e-mail and intranet access approximately four weeks before matriculation.

Can I get my student discounted METRO Q Card prior to my enrollment at Baylor?
Students must be officially enrolled at Baylor before applying for a University Metro Q Fare Card. After your first day, you may obtain the documentation required to apply for a card.

How do I get proof of my enrollment at Baylor?
The Office of the Registrar can provide proof of enrollment after classes start. To request enrollment verification, complete the “How May We Help You?” form and return it to the office. The verification will be processed within two business days.

How do I register for classes?
Registration is automatic. All students take the same courses.

How can I make sure you have my final college transcript?
Your permanent record will be available for your perusal in the Office of the Registrar (DeBakey Building Room M210) once you are enrolled.

Housing

What area close to the Texas Medical Center do most students live in?
There are many apartment complexes and condominiums around the medical center area that are close to mass transit routes (bus or light rail). Many students live south or west of campus, however there are numerous other options. Please refer to the Housing Information link for more information.

Does Baylor own/manage a housing facility?
No, Baylor does not own any housing facilities. There are many apartments and other properties available within a short distance of the campus.
