Ashley Anderson, M.D.

Ashley Anderson, M.D.

Post Residency Plans: Comprehensive practice in Houston, TX
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Undergraduate: University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas
Medical School: Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas
Why Baylor: I chose Baylor Ophthalmology because of the opportunity to train with some of the best physicians in the field. The Texas Medical Center offers a wide array of clinical and surgical opportunities, and I am confident that I will be able to handle any and every clinical presentation after training here. In addition, the environment fosters growth and encourages personal development while working alongside excellent co-residents and colleagues. I am so honored to have the opportunity to join the BCM Ophthalmology team.

Ryan Nolan, M.D.

Post Residency Plans: Oculoplastics Fellowship at Duke University
Hometown: Plantation, Fla.
Undergraduate: University of Miami, Miami, Fla.
Medical School: University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Fla.
Why Baylor: With a name like Nolan, Ryan Houston seemed to be beckoning to me from the start. Once I made it to H-Town, I was impressed by the facilities, resources, and ties to industry within the largest medical center in the world. Speaking to residents and faculty, I quickly realized Baylor’s was a program in which you learned fast and your experiences prepared you for a stellar career in ophthalmology. In Baylor I saw the opportunity to receive a high level of training through a learn by doing approach with tons of autonomy and volume complimenting early surgical exposure and hands on experience in the OR. The MBA in me admires the emphasis the program places on efficiency, while the foodie in me fell for the fajitas and margaritas at the pre-interview dinner.

Gina Pham, M.D.

Gina Pham, M.D.

Post Residency Plans: Comprehensive practice in Dallas, TX area
Hometown: Arlington, Texas
Undergraduate: The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas
Medical School: Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas
Why Baylor: I chose Baylor because of the endless opportunities provided in all the subspecialties. I especially appreciate the autonomy and early surgical training given to the residents. In addition, I really enjoyed working with the faculty and residents as a medical student and am excited to continue my training here.
Outside Interests: Baking, exploring new restaurants, working out.

Nicole Somani, M.D.

Nicole Somani, M.D.

Post Residency Plans: Vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA
Hometown: San Ramon, Cailf.
Undergraduate: University of California, Los Angeles, Cailf.
Medical School: UT Houston McGovern Medical School, Houston, Texas
Why Baylor: Baylor was my first choice for residency because the program offers strong clinical and surgical training to prepare me for a career in academic ophthalmology. The program is unique in its affiliation with two public and three private institutions, which allows for a diverse range of patient experiences and impressive general and subspecialty surgical exposure. The sheer patient volume is unparalleled, and it is clear that Baylor is a rigorous program that prepares its residents for any path they choose. During medical school, I was able to witness firsthand the incredible learning experience that medical students and residents have with Baylor faculty members, and I am so excited to be joining the Baylor family!
