Adult Neurology Grand Rounds

Content

Grand Rounds is every Monday at noon. It is attended by the entire Department of Neurology including adult and child neurology faculty and residents. Grand Rounds lectures are given by department faculty as well as invited guest lecturers from other institutions.

Pediatric Neurology Section Rounds

Content

On Wednesday mornings, this conference is attended by all section faculty, child neurology residents, and rotating residents and medical students. The conference is designed for case presentations from the inpatient or outpatient neurology services. The conference fosters discussion related to the diagnosis and management of complex neurological conditions. It provides education for the resident on practice parameter guidelines.

Core Lecture Series

Content

This lecture series occurs weekdays at noon. It is attended by all child neurology residents, with the lecture topic being presented by a senior resident or a member of the departmental faculty. The lectures focus on specific areas of clinical neurology. Lecture series have included epilepsy, neuroanatomy, neurodevelopment, neurogenetics/metabolic, neurooncology, movement disorders, neuroimmunology, neuropathology, psychiatry, journal club, board review, resident wellness series, Evidence-Based Medicine, difficult case conference, morbidity and mortality conference.

Pediatric Neurology Grand Rounds

Content

Every Wednesday at noon, faculty, residents and medical students attend this conference in the Texas Children's Hospital auditorium. The conference features a variety of topics in child neurology and reflects the diverse expertise of the section and affiliated subspecialties. Specific lectures have included reviews of the diagnosis and management of epilepsy, cerebral palsy, white matter diseases, childhood stroke, neuropathology, neuromuscular disorders, traumatic brain injury, basic neuroscience research, among others.

Pediatric Neuro-oncology Tumor Board

Content

Every Wednesday morning, prior to the section rounds, this multidisciplinary meeting reviews complicated neuro-oncology cases. Attendees include members from the sections of child neurology, oncology, neuroradiology, neurosurgery, neuropathology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology and neuropsychiatry.

Pediatric Neuroradiology Rounds

Content

Every other Thursday morning, the section of child neurology meets in the radiology conference room to review interesting and educational cases from the previous weeks. The conference allows for further collaboration between the neuroradiologists and the child neurology section in the evaluation and care of patients.

Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Rounds

Content

The Center for Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis has monthly meetings to review patients with multiple sclerosis and related demyelinating diseases to include acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, transverse myelitis, optic neuritis, and clinically isolated syndromes. The meetings are attended by the center's allies subspecialties to include neurology, neuroradiology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropsychiatry, psychology and genetics.

This weekly multidisciplinary meeting brings together the specialties of epileptologists, neurosurgery, neuroradiology and neuropsychology for comprehensive review and discussion of complex epilepsy patients.
