We’re the Chief Residents in Quality & Patient Safety (CRQPS) for the 2025-2026 year! Andres and Michael are the inpatient CRQPSs and Zaara is the outpatient CRQPS. We primarily work at Houston's Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, one of the primary hospital affiliates of Baylor College of Medicine. We complete a national VA curriculum on quality improvement and patient safety and hold teaching, leadership, and scholarship roles at Baylor. We lead the quality improvement and patient safety curriculum for the IM residents. You’ll see us attending on inpatient medicine teaching teams and at VA resident continuity clinic as well as facilitating high-value care morning reports and patient safety conferences. We also work behind the scenes on patient safety committees and quality improvement initiatives at the VA.

Reach out to us with any questions about our roles or about quality improvement and patient safety at Baylor!

Sincerely,
Zaara, Andres and Michael
