Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Research

The Outpatient Clinical Trials Research Program (OCTR) has conducted numerous medication trials for treatment of psychiatric and addictive disorders. Under the direction of Thomas R. Kosten, M.D., OCTR boasts a well-trained staff of psychiatric researchers, geneticists, immunologists and research associates.

Housed in the modular building on the MEDVAMC campus, OCTR offers a number of clinical trials of pharmacologic treatment for illnesses such as stimulant (cocaine, methamphetamine) dependence, opiate dependence and PTSD. Opportunities for Addiction Psychiatry fellow participation are available during the course of training, where trainees are able to screen and evaluate patients for participation in studies and provide cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy to participants.
