Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Faculty

Kevin Fisher

Kevin Fisher, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Fisher is the fellowship Program Director and Medical Director of the Molecular Oncology Laboratory at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). His clinical interests encompass the application of molecular genetic and genomic technologies for the diagnosis and prognosis of childhood leukemias and lymphomas. serves on multiple national committees for molecular diagnostics including the Association of Molecular Pathology, Children’s Oncology Group, ClinGen, and the College of American Pathology Molecular Oncology Committee. Dr. Fisher is also the rotation director for the resident and medical student molecular pathology rotations. Fellows work directly with Dr. Fisher on the Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genomics service while at TCH.

Angshumoy Roy

Angshumoy Roy, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Roy is an Associate Program Director and Medical Director of the Clinical Genomics Laboratory at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). His clinical interests encompass the application of molecular genetic and genomic technologies for the diagnosis of pediatric solid tumors and inherited disorders. He serves on multiple national committees for molecular diagnostics and informatics including the Association of Molecular Pathology, Children’s Oncology Group, ClinGen, and the College of American Pathology Genomics and Next-Generation Sequencing Committee. Fellows work directly with Dr. Roy while on the Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genomics service at TCH.

Dolores Lopez-Terrada, M.D., Ph.D.

Dolores Lopez-Terrada, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Lopez-Terrada is the Chief of the Genomic Medicine Division at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) and Medical Director of the Cytogenetics Laboratory situated in the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center. She served as Program Director for the fellowship for 12 years and was influential in transforming the program into one of the premier fellowship training programs in the nation. She serves on multiple national and international committees for clinical molecular diagnostics, is an international expert on the genomics of pediatric liver tumors, and is an Editor for the 5th edition of the WHO Classification of Pediatric Tumours. Fellows work directly with Dr. Lopez-Terrada while on the Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genomics service at TCH.

Jennifer Scull

Jennifer Scull, Ph.D.

Dr. Scull is an Associate Program Director and member of the Genomic Medicine Division at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). Prior to TCH, Dr. Scull spent 11 years in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Scull is board-certified in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics oversees the constitutional genetics service and genomic testing stewardship program.

Fellows work directly with Dr. Scull during the Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genomics service while at TCH.

James Dunn

James Dunn, Ph.D.

Dr. Dunn is the Medical Director of Medical Microbiology and Virology at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). His clinical interests include the development and implementation of clinical molecular diagnostic assays for viral and bacterial infectious diseases. He has assessed the utility of rapid diagnosis of infection for these conditions and their impact on patient management, infection control practices, and healthcare utilization. Dr. Dunn serves on multiple national committees for infectious diseases including American Board of Medical Microbiology and the American Society for Microbiology. Fellows work directly with Dr. Dunn during their Infectious Disease rotation while at TCH.

Julie Gastier-Foster, Ph.D.

Dr. Gastier-Foster is the Medical Director of Global Pathology and Director involved in the Global Hematology/Oncology Pediatric Excellence (HOPE) initiative at Texas Children’s Hospital. She has more than 20 years' experience directing clinical genetics laboratories and uses her experience in clinical laboratory testing, centralized testing for the Children's Oncology group trials,  biorepositories, and large cancer sequencing projects to help build infrastructure for better pediatric cancer care in Africa. Dr. Gastier-Foster has been an integral part of the Children's Oncology Group disease committees for nearly two decades. She has participated in the development and review of protocols, conversion of new biomarkers into clinical trials, and translational research related to prognostic factors. Fellows work with Dr. Gastier-Foster in multiple educational areas including the monthly journal club which she co-directs.

Yuxin Fan

Yuxin Fan, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Fan is the Medical Director of John Welsh Cardiovascular Diagnostic Laboratory at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). His clinical interests involve the development and implantation of molecular genetic diagnosis of inherited human diseases, especially cardiovascular disorders using next generation sequencing and microarray-based diagnostics. His research interests have been focused on cardiovascular genetics, especially on the genetic screening for new genes related to cardiovascular disease and on the understating of mechanisms behind inherited cardiomyopathy using cellular and knock-in/out animal models. Fellows work directly with Dr. Fan periodically throughout the year interpreting constitutional testing for cardiovascular diseases. 

Liesbeth Vossaert, Ph.D.

Liesbeth Vossaert, Ph.D.

Dr. Vossaert is an Assistant Laboratory Director at Baylor Genetics and graduate of the Laboratory Genetics and Genomics training program at Baylor College of Medicine. Fellows work with Dr. Vossaert while on their Inherited Disorders rotation at Baylor Genetics.
