Eligibility
The Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship program offers two ACGME-approved positions per academic year.
Application prerequisites:
- Eligible for certification by the American Board of Pathology (AP/CP, AP, or CP)
- Eligible for certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (M.D.s only)
Application
All application materials should be submitted online through the Fellowships Centralized Application Service (FellowshipsCAS). The FellowshipsCAS application portal opens on Oct. 1, 2026. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications by Dec. 1, 2026, to be considered for the first round of interviews.
Key Dates 2028-2029 Application Cycle

- Oct. 1, 2026: FellowshipsCAS application portal opens (apply online)
- Dec. 1, 2026: Deadline to be considered for the first round of interviews
- January 2027 - February 2027: Virtual interviews conducted
- Feb. 3, 2027: Programs and applicants begin registering for the Match and sign the legally binding Match Participation Agreement
- March 10, 2027: NRMP ranking opens
- April 14, 2027: Rank order list certification deadline
- April 28, 2027: Match Day
- July 1, 2028: New fellows start
