About Us

The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences conducts basic and translationalĀ research and is devoted to the study of cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with cardiovascular function and mechanism of cardiovascular injury and aging.

In addition to pursuing their individual research interests, faculty are responsible for the operation of the DeBakey Heart Center Research Cores that develop and analyze models of cardiovascular disease in various species.

Research funding of the division comes from both individual and multi-investigator grants from National Institutes of Health, private foundations, and pharmaceutical companies.
