The Optical Imaging and Vital Microscopy Core offers two levels of service for all the instruments in our core. The first level is unassisted use, where users are trained on the instrument that best suits their needs and are then permitted to sign up for time on that system. The second level is assisted use, where users can schedule time with an imaging specialist to operate the instrument for them during their session. Services for Unassisted Use
Fill out and submit our User Request Form. Once we have reviewed your information we will contact you to set up a meeting with one of our imaging specialists to discuss your experiment(s). We provide expert guidance for all types of imaging experiments and we can help you select the instrument that will best suit your needs.
Consultation
Consultation session are available from the Optical Imaging and Vital Microscopy Core.
Tutorials and Training
Once we have discussed your requirements in greater detail, we can schedule you for an individualized training session on the instrument you require. Prior to your scheduled training session, we offer instructional seminars on the basics of the technology you will be utilizing as well as detailed training documents tailored to your specific instrument so we can reduce your learning curve (these are provided at an no additional charge).
When you are prepared for the training session, we will schedule a time that is convenient for you (during normal business hours). During the training session you will learn how to properly operate the instrument and learn to use all the necessary functions relating to your experiment.
Independent Use
Once the initial training is complete, we do not consider this the end of our instruction time. There will be some amount of additional instruction that will be provided based on individual user need. OiVM staff is available to answer any questions you may have. Do not hesitate to ask for assistance at any time!

Once your imaging session is complete, we provide data handling at your convenience as well as post-consultation to further guide your future needs.
