SHARE @ IQuESt Faculty Mentorship Program

Content

Our Surgical Health Services Academy for Research and Education—SHARE @ IQuESt—includes a surgical faculty development program that provides training, mentoring, and programmatic support to help faculty become independently-funded health services researchers. This health services research training program represents an alliance between the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery and the Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, has been uniquely designed to provide HSR training for surgical outcomes investigators. IQuESt, the largest health services research center in the Southwest and a VA Center of Innovation, is based at Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  Surgical faculty in this program are assigned mentoring teams and methodology support for the purpose of developing health services research programs and competitive grant applications.

Beginning in 2021, SHARE will expand the mentoring and methodology support more broadly among surgical faculty, particularly those interested in studying disparities in surgical care. For more information, contact Barbara W. Trautner, M.D., Ph.D., at trautner@bcm.edu.
