Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Admissions

The program is fully approved by the Accreditation Committee on Graduate Medical Education. In addition to basic application procedures, the department requires personal interviews for all applicants.

We accept applications for the following academic year starting in the summer. Our program will utilize ERAS to accept applications for the program. We comply fully with the National Resident Matching Program. In order to participate in the match you must register through the NRMP website.

Graduates of national or international medical schools who will have completed at least three years of General Psychiatry are eligible to apply.

Application Requirements

Applications must include:

  • Completed application through ERAS
  • Three letters of reference
  • Curriculum vita
  • Personal statement
  • USMLE/NBOME scores
  • A letter from your general residency director

Letter of Reference

The letter from your general residency director must include the rotations and the length of time spent on each rotation indicating that, assuming your successful completion of the PGY-3 year or PGY-4 year you will have satisfied enough of the RRC general psychiatry essentials that you can enter as a first year Child Psychiatry resident in another ACGME accredited program, and become board eligible.*

Interview Process

In addition to basic application procedures, the department requires personal interviews for all applicants. Interviews are held with junior and senior faculty as well as current child and adolescent psychiatry residents. This time gives applicants an opportunity to develop the most accurate and comprehensive picture of the department as possible in a short visit.

The interview day starts with our chief resident giving a brief presentation to all applicants followed by 30-minute meetings with individual child faculty. There is also an opportunity to meet with current child fellows for Q&A.

Our program works entirely through the National Resident Matching Program.

*We realize the documentation requirements may seem cumbersome. They are in place to avoid an unfortunate circumstance where you might end up in a subspecialty program that cannot offer you the general psychiatry rotations you need to complete your training, according to RRC guidelines.

Interview Season Dates

Our interview season runs from August to November.

All interviews are scheduled for half days throughout the week. Check for availability.
