Linked is a copy of our 2008-2009 annual report which reflects the depth and breadth of the Baylor College of Medicine/University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Alliance. It demonstrates our clinical, educational and research commitments and accomplishments as well as national activities.

It should be noted that we are 58 faculty strong and cover approximately 240 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service beds, 279 long-term care beds and 3,898 acute medical/surgical care beds. We have a strong large residency program of 34 residents and 13 postdoctoral fellows per year with significant continuing educational opportunities.

Our research productivity includes 43 grants and subcontracts from federal and private sources. The research annual budget totals over $8 million and multi-year total awards are over $36 million with diverse funding by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, Rehabilitation Services and United States Department of the Veterans Affairs, just to name a few.

We could not have accomplished our goals without working in partnership with you, our academic institutions, our affiliated hospitals and the national and international rehabilitation communities. We look forward to working in partnership with other departments and organizations with a continuing goal to improve and quality of life of people with physical disabilities. Thank you for all of your continued help and support.
