The Gastroenterology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine offers a wide variety of clinical and investigative experiences in a challenging training program. The program goal is designed to make internists into specialists in gastroenterology and hepatology by equipping them with requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for them to demonstrate competence in patient care, knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, systems-based practice, professionalism, and interpersonal and communication skills relevant to gastroenterology and hepatology. Thus, producing clinically competent gastroenterologists who can read critically, offer expert primary care and consultative services in gastroenterology, and are capable of initiating original investigative work toward an academic career if the individual so desires.
