At the end of the first year, fellows in the Academic Clinical Track are expected to choose a project mentor and develop the outline of a research project. The mentor will help identify the resources required to carry out the research project.
During the second and third years, the fellow will execute the research project with the goal of producing a tangible publication. It is expected that preliminary work from the research project will be submitted in abstract form either to the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology or American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
