Development of clinical programs represents a convergence of standard care and research that keeps Baylor College of Medicine neonatologists at the forefront of their field. These efforts extend the survival rates of neonates locally and worldwide through sharing the knowledge with the international healthcare community.
Texas Children’s Hospital, one of the nation's largest pediatric hospitals, is the primary pediatric teaching hospital of Baylor College of Medicine. The state-of-the art NICU provides advanced technological and nursing support systems, such as computerized monitoring for all infants, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, nitric oxide ventilation, organ transplantation, renal dialysis and high frequency oscillatory ventilation for patients. Post discharge, NICU graduates can be followed at Texas Children’s outpatient clinics.
Texas Children's has a lactation program and mother’s own milk bank. Registered nurses who are certified lactation counselors and peer counselors provide services for breastfeeding mothers and their infants.
