Message from the Chair

Thomas Lloyd

Thomas Lloyd, M.D., Ph.D.

Thank you for your interest in neurology education at Baylor College of Medicine.

Program Offerings

Your Journey in Neurology Starts Here

Whether you're a medical student, resident, or pursuing advanced fellowship training, our neurology programs offer exceptional opportunities to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact. Explore a wide range of hands-on experiences, mentorship from world-renowned faculty, and access to cutting-edge research and clinical care across our diverse training tracks. Begin your path to becoming a leader in neurology today.

  • Neurology Clerkship Program: The Neurology Clerkship at Baylor College of Medicine is a four-week clinical rotation for medical students. It combines hands-on patient care with lectures and conferences to build neurology skills.

  • Adult Residency Program: Our residency programs offer comprehensive clinical training, strong mentorship, and exposure to groundbreaking research. Prepare to become a skilled, confident neurologist ready to lead in academic or clinical practice.
  • Child Neurology Residency Program: Led entirely by the Baylor Department of Pediatrics, this program provides comprehensive training in both pediatric and neurological care. Residents gain the skills and experience needed to excel in the specialized field of child neurology.

  • Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry: Baylor's one-year fellowship trains physicians in diagnosing and treating adult neuropsychiatric disorders through clinical work and structured education.
  • Clinical Neurophysiology: Baylor’s 12 month Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship trains physicians in EEG (adult/pediatric, continuous, ambulatory), EMG/nerve conduction studies, sleep testing, intraoperative monitoring, and related techniques, preparing them for board certification.
  • Clinical Neuropsychology: Baylor’s postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology trains psychologists in advanced neuropsychological assessment, consultation, feedback, and interdisciplinary care in adult neurological populations, with research experience and didactics aligned with ABPP/ABCN eligibility.
  • Epilepsy: Baylor’s 12-month epilepsy fellowship offers advanced clinical training in adult and pediatric epilepsy, including medical management, surgical evaluation, and cutting-edge diagnostics like MEG and SEEG, alongside research and mentorship opportunities.
  • Movement Disorders: Baylor’s two-year Movement Disorders Fellowship trains neurologists in diagnosing and treating a wide range of movement disorders with hands-on clinical experience and advanced therapies like deep brain stimulation. Fellows also gain research skills through participation in clinical trials and scholarly activities.
  • Multiple Sclerosis: Baylor College of Medicine’s one-year Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship offers advanced clinical training in diagnosing and managing multiple sclerosis and related neuroimmunological disorders. Fellows gain experience through multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, participation in clinical trials, and opportunities for research and scholarly activities
  • Neurocritical Care: Baylor College of Medicine’s Neurocritical Care Fellowship is a two-year, dual-accredited program that trains physicians in managing complex neurological emergencies such as stroke, status epilepticus, and brain trauma. Fellows gain hands-on experience in a 20-bed Neuro ICU, engage in multidisciplinary didactics, and participate in cutting-edge research, including collaborations with NASA in space medicine.
  • Neuromuscular Medicine: Baylor’s one-year Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship trains physicians to diagnose and treat neuromuscular disorders in adults and children. Fellows gain hands-on experience with EMG, nerve studies, ultrasounds, and biopsies across multiple medical centers.
  • Vascular Neurology: Baylor’s one-year Vascular Neurology Fellowship trains physicians in comprehensive stroke care, including inpatient, outpatient, and advanced imaging techniques. Fellows gain clinical experience and research opportunities at leading medical centers under expert mentorship.

  • Grand Rounds: The Neurology Grand Rounds at Baylor College of Medicine is a weekly educational series designed for healthcare professionals involved in neurological care. The sessions aim to enhance clinical knowledge and improve patient outcomes through lectures and case presentations on topics such as epilepsy, stroke, ICU care, medical comorbidities, and cognitive screening.
