Adult Neurology Residents

Chief Adult Neurology Residents

The Department of Neurology is pleased to announce the incoming chief residents for the upcoming academic year, a group of trainees whose diverse backgrounds, academic interests and commitment to education continue to strengthen the residency program.

Together, the incoming chief residents reflect the department’s continued commitment to academic excellence, resident education and compassionate neurologic care. The department looks forward to the leadership, collaboration and mentorship this group will bring in the year ahead as they help support resident education, foster community and advance the program’s academic mission.

About Our Chief Residents

Dr. Marco Malaga joined the Baylor College of Medicine neurology residency program after completing medical school in Lima, Peru. His clinical and research interests center on epilepsy and neuromodulation, and he has worked closely with Dr. Zulfi Haneef on related research initiatives. Marco has also contributed to several resident education efforts, including “Neurolytes” and “EEG of the Week.” As an incoming chief resident, he looks forward to further strengthening the residency educational curriculum alongside his co-chiefs.

Dr. Roald Menodiado, a Houston native, returned home to train at Baylor after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Master of Public Health and attending medical school in Kansas City. He will serve as one of the incoming administrative chief residents. During residency, he has valued the collaborative training environment at Baylor and looks forward to continuing at the institution after graduation to pursue a fellowship in movement disorders.

Serving as Academic Chief Resident, Dr. Dyuti Shah brings a longstanding passion for clinical neurology and medical education. Originally from New Delhi, she developed an early interest in complex neurologic cases during medical school, a curiosity that ultimately brought her to Baylor for residency training. In her new role, she hopes to foster an engaging and dynamic academic curriculum for residents. She plans to pursue a fellowship in movement disorders while continuing to grow as both an educator and a lifelong learner.

Dr. Hania Zafar, originally from Karachi, Pakistan, completed her medical training at Ziauddin University before moving to Houston for residency at Baylor. Throughout her training, she has been actively involved in quality improvement and resident education initiatives, areas she describes as especially meaningful aspects of her professional development. She will serve as one of the incoming administrative chief residents and plans to pursue a fellowship in neurocritical care following residency.
