A new potassium channel disease from basic to clinical science
Drs. Bryan and Aguilar-Bryan were recognized for their contributions to our understanding of the regulation of insulin secretion via the cloning of the ß-cell sulfonylurea receptor, identification of the receptor as a subunit of Κ ATP channels, and correlation of mutations in the receptor with hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia of infancy.
