The Elkins Pancreas Center

Clinical Trials for Pancreatic Cancer

In an effort to find a cure, The Elkins Pancreas Center has a clinical trial for everyone with pancreas cancer no matter what the stage.

There are many advantages to being on a clinical trial. First, it's an opportunity to make a valuable contribution to cancer research and potentially help find a cure. Breast cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma, prostate cancer, and leukemia are being cured in many cases thanks to those who participated in clinical trials. We are dedicated to achieving these same advances for patients with pancreas cancer.

In addition, when you participate in a clinical trial, your healthcare will be provided by leading physicians in the field of pancreatic cancer research. You will gain access not only to these physicians but also to new drugs and interventions like gene therapy and immunotherapy before they are widely available. When you participate in a clinical trial, you are taking a more active role in your own health care. If the approach being studied is found to be helpful, you may be among the first to benefit.

Patients on clinical trials receive close monitoring of their health care and any side effects. You will be followed very closely by your research nurse and your physicians. Your research nurse will coordinate physician visits and testing, and make sure the trial protocol is followed exactly. Your research nurse is always within reach and communicates with you almost daily.

At The Elkins Pancreas Center, we offer not only clinical trials as mentioned above, but also a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, including Multidisciplinary Pancreas Tumor Board conferences. We have organized all of the expertise and experience at Baylor College of Medicine to help provide our patients with the best care available.
