About the Core
The In Vivo Neurophysiology Core provides functional analysis of neural circuitry in animal models of neurological diseases to investigators in BCM/IDDRC/TCH and others from unaffiliated institutions.
We also provide free consultation for in vivo electrophysiology and customized E-Phys analysis in mouse models.

Ongoing Research and Developments
My lab has been working on the cellular and circuit mechanisms underlying memory, motor function, and epileptic seizures in normal and/or disease conditions. Our goal is to understand the cellular/neural circuit problems and then explore the treatment strategies for some neurodevelopmental neurological disorders (e.g., intellectual disability disorders, autism spectrum disorders). Recently, we found that deep brain stimulation of the fimbria-fornix rescues the learning and memory deficits, together with the enhancement of hippocampal synaptic plasticity and/or adult hippocampal neurogenesis in mouse models of Rett syndrome and CDKL5 deficiency disorder (Nature, 2015; Journal of Neuroscience 2021; Brain Stimulation, 2023).
