Why Participate?
Participating in clinical research is a meaningful way to access new treatments, contribute to scientific progress, and help improve care for others living with similar conditions. Over the course of your participation, our team remains committed to minimizing any burden that participation may place on you. All our studies provide compensation for your time, effort and travel.
What to Expect
While the specific details of each study vary significantly, here is a general description of what participation looks like across our program:
Study Duration
Studies can last anywhere from four to 16 weeks – sometimes even shorter, sometimes longer. Some longer-term studies may include up to three years of longitudinal observation.
What's Involved
Depending on the study, participation may include clinical interviews, questionnaires, investigational medication, physical exams, lab work, imaging, apps on your smartphone, or wearable devices.
Visit Frequency
Visit schedules vary by study. Shorter studies may require weekly visits, while longer-term studies may require one visit every four to eight weeks. Visits are scheduled to ensure your safety and wellbeing foremostly – and to ensure consistent, accurate data collection.
Compensation
Participants are always compensated for their time, effort and adherence to study protocols. You will always be paid for participating. We organize transportation to and from our office, and we often provide reimbursement for meals and mileage traveled.
Am I Eligible?
Eligibility varies by study, but the following general criteria apply to most of our clinical trials. We encourage you to reach out even if you are unsure of your eligibility. Our team is happy to help you find out whether any of our current studies may be a good fit for you.
| General Eligibility Criteria | Description |
|---|---|
| Psychiatric diagnosis | Most clinical trials require a formal psychiatric diagnosis, which will vary by study. For example, to qualify for a depression study, you may need a formal diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Other studies may require other diagnoses. |
| Age | Typically, participants must be between 18 and 65 years old, though age thresholds vary by study. |
| Substance use or abuse | Active, ongoing substance or alcohol use may affect eligibility for some – but not all – of our studies. If you are working towards sobriety or recovery, including if you have experienced occasional relapses, we encourage you to reach out to our office. Some of our studies are specifically designed for individuals with substance use disorders, and others may still be an option depending on your situation. |
| Medical stability | Participants should be in generally stable medical health, but specific medical requirements and restrictions vary by study. |
| Medical records | Some studies may require copies of medical records from your current or previous treatment providers. Our team will let you know if this applies and can help guide you through the process. |
Not sure if you qualify? Please don’t disqualify yourself – reach out and let us help. Even if you do not meet every criterion listed here, there may still be a study that is right for you.
