Treatment-Resistant Depression

Electroconvulsive therapy versus Ketamine for Severe Resistant Depression (ELEKT-D)  
The goal of this study is to conduct a comparative effectiveness trial of ECT vs. intravenous ketamine in patients with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder.

Augmentation vs Switch: Comparative Effectiveness Research Trial for Antidepressant Incomplete and Non-responders with Treatment-Resistant Depression (ASCERTAIN-TRD) 
The goal of this study is to compare the effectiveness of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), aripiprazole, or venlafaxine XR for patients with major depressive disorder who have shown an inadequate treatment response to at least 2 treatments. 

Other Studies

Glutamate receptor and kynurenine pathway functioning in the pathobiology of Gulf War Illness 
The goal of this project is to test neuroinflammatory pathways and NMDA receptor functioning in a well-characterized group of 1990-1991 Gulf War veterans.

Mechanisms, prediction and treatment of short-term risk for suicidal behavior
The goal of this project is to compare behavioral and neurophysiological indicators of impulsivity, sensitization, and affect regulation in high-suicide risk subjects, and investigate the effects of lithium treatment on these variables.
