Ben Taub Hospital is part of the Harris Health System and provides care for low-income families who depend primarily on the Health System for their health care. The pediatric department provides care for newborns in the Level I, II, and III nurseries at this facility. In addition to their work in the nurseries, residents staff the pediatric service within the emergency department at Ben Taub. Staffed by physician faculty and residents from BCM, Ben Taub serves as a teaching facility to the next generation of healthcare providers. The Harris Health System operates an outpatient facility devoted exclusively to the care of infants, children, and adolescents in Pasadena, a Houston suburb. Residents appreciate the opportunity to give back to their community by helping to provide care to the underserved.
