Baylor College of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery was established in 1952 as a division of the Department of Surgery, and is led by department chair, Dr. Daniel Yoshor.
The Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. Our surgeons provide the highest quality neurosurgical care for patients who have an illness or injury affecting the brain, spine or peripheral nerves. Our clinical subspecialties include brain tumor and the skull base neurosurgery, cerebrovascular neurosurgery, spine neurosurgery, as well as neurosurgery for epilepsy, the pituitary, and pain and movement disorders.
As educators, we train residents to become highly skilled, compassionate and ethical neurosurgeons who continue to learn new aspects of neurosurgery throughout their careers and contribute to the development of neurosurgery in academic and/or clinical positions.
Research is an integral part of the department. The Department of Neurosurgery research mission is to improve the understanding and treatment of central and peripheral nervous system disorders.
