Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship

Baylor College of Medicine’s Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship is a one-year program that provides mentored career development in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Trainees will receive advanced endoscopic training in both the cognitive and procedural aspects of advanced endoscopic procedures with the goal of being trained as an academic interventionalist.

The program offers a unique opportunity for training in all aspects of therapeutic endoscopy and at multiple clinical sites. The diverse practice settings and faculty experience provide advanced endoscopy training in a nurturing environment that combines clinical excellence with research and academic pursuit.

Clinical Skills

Most of the advanced training will revolve around complex ERCP and Interventional EUS, including EDGE, EUS Gastrojejunostomy, EUS Choledochoduodenostomy, EUS Gall Bladder Drainage, and coiling of gastric varices. Trainees will also be trained in luminal stenting, complex endoscopic mucosal resection, radio-frequency ablation,TIF and bariatric endoscopy. AEF will have the opportunity to observe over 150 3rd space endoscopic procedures including POEM, ESD, and exposed full thickness resection.

Research

AEF will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of clinical research.
With over 15 active clinical trials occurring each year, AEF have the ability to be integral members of our research team and publish in high impact journals.
