Section Highlights

The Section of Hematology and Oncology delivers comprehensive care across multiple leading health systems while advancing strategic priorities focused on integration, collaboration, teaching excellence, and faculty development.
Faculty continue to drive innovation in translational science, securing more than $3.3 million in federal, foundation, and industry funding and publishing 61 peer-reviewed articles focused on hematologic and oncologic diseases.
Clinical programs continue to expand, highlighted by the growth of the O'Quinn Medical Tower's Phase 1 clinical trial program, new multidisciplinary partnerships, and innovative studies supported by the Margaret Alkek Foundation and CPRIT.
Faculty and trainees receive national and international recognition for excellence in research, mentorship, patient care, and education, with honors from organizations including ASCO, ASH, and Baylor College of Medicine.
Education remains central to the section's mission through one of the nation's largest Hematology and Oncology Board Review courses, a thriving fellowship program, and continued investment in the development of future physician-scientists.
Guided by a commitment to discovery and compassionate care, the section continues to advance novel therapies and improve outcomes for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.
