The following documents are required from the Academic Unit for appointment to this rank:

1. Letter of Request from head of Academic Unit that includes a summary of the candidate’s contributions to the College

2. Request for Faculty Appointment/Promotion (RFAP) form prepared by the Academic Unit

3. Current curriculum vitae of the candidate. See CV Outline - Promotion.

Tenured professors with at least one year of service at BCM and tenured associate professors with at least 10 years of service at BCM and who have remained on active status until retirement may be eligible for "Emeritus" appointment upon retirement following recommendation by the head of the Academic Unit in which the candidate has his or her primary appointment and upon formal action by the President and the Board of Trustees.

Non-tenured faculty members at the rank of professor (non-tenured), associate professor (non-tenure track), voluntary clinical professor, and voluntary clinical associate professor with at least 10 years of exemplary service to the College may be eligible for an “Emeritus” appointment upon retirement and upon recommendation of the head of the Academic Unit in which the candidate has his or her primary appointment and formal action of the Faculty Appointments and Promotions Committee, the Academic Council, the president, and the Board of Trustees.

Distinguished Emeritus

Tenured professors who have served the College with special distinction at BCM for at least 10 years may be eligible for the position of "Distinguished Emeritus" Professor upon retirement and upon recommendation of the head of the Academic Unit in which the candidate has his or her primary appointment and formal action of the Faculty Appointments and Promotions Committee, the Academic Council, the President, and the Board of Trustees.
