Memorial Hermann Hospital

Memorial Hermann Hospital, a 650 bed acute trauma hospital, established in 1925 was the first hospital to open in the Texas Medical Center. It is a certified Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only two in the Greater Houston area, providing 24 hour emergency and trauma care. Memorial Hermann Life Flight air ambulance services operate a fleet of three helicopters providing emergency rescue and air transport services. As the primary teaching hospital for The University of Texas-Houston Medical School, Memorial Hermann Hospital provides comprehensive services in surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and cardiology, as well as research in a variety of medical specialties.


Services Offered

Currently, the Rehabilitation Unit has 21 inpatient beds. The Rehabilitation Unit offers continuity of care and access to state-of-the-art treatment. In addition to Hermann’s full range of services, the unit is able to offer patients the best possible care providing comprehensive services based on an interdisciplinary team treatment approach. The treatment team at the Rehabilitation Unit is composed of rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, dieticians and case managers.

The Rehabilitation Unit provides the following rehabilitative services to recovering patients with a variety of needs: brain injury, stroke, orthopedic injuries, surgeries, multiple trauma, burns, amputation and neurological diseases.
